Free and Low-Cost Legal Resources in Utah

Description of the Research Guide

The purpose of this research guide is to provide the public with information about free and low-cost legal resources in Utah. This research guide was last updated June 2020. Any temporary changes due to COVID-19 have not been included on this research guide. Please view the websites and contact thee resources to ask about any changes to their services because of COVID-19.

It is recommended that you look in two places for help: (1) the tab that applies to your legal issue and (2) the All Legal Issues tab. The All Legal Issues tab has resources that apply to any kind of legal issue, and these resources tend to be the most popular and most helpful.

Many, if not most, legal resources appear in multiple tabs. For an exhaustive list of all the legal resources contained in this research guide, see the All Legal Resources tab.

Moreover, feel free to check the corresponding tabs for additional resources that may be helpful, regardless of your legal issue, if you identify as part of any of the following groups:

  • American Indians (the Indian Law tab)
  • LGBT+ (the Civil Rights tab)
  • Deaf or Hard of Hearing (the Civil Rights tab and the Disability Law tab)
  • People with Disabilities (the Civil Rights tab and the Disability Law tab)
  • Senior Citizens (the Elder Law tab)
  • Veterans (the Veterans Law tab)
